Cells a laboratory manual spector
This selected chapter represents a contribution to Cells: A Laboratory Manual (David Spector, Robert Goldman, Leslie Leinwand, eds.). Prepared by Dr. Steven M. Block of Princeton University, the chapter describes the construction of optical tweezers, a single beam optical trap that uses highly focused laser light to trap and manipulate microscopic biological objects, including cells, organelles and chromosomes. The answer lies in Cells, a new manual designed to do for studies of cell biology what Cold Spring Harbor's Molecular Cloning has done for molecular biology. Sets the standard for techniques of proven bench reliability needed by all biomedical scientists studying cellular structure and function.5/5(1). Cells: a laboratory manual. Calcium Phosphate-Mediated Transfection of Cells with High-Molecular-Weight Genomic DNA. Calcium Phosphate-Mediated Transfection of Eukaryotic Cells with Plasmid DNAs. Highly Sensitive Quantitative Microscopy for Cellular and Subcellular Analysis.
David L. Spector (born () December 6, , in New York City) is a cell and molecular biologist best recognized for his research on gene expression and nuclear dynamics. He is currently a professor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) and head of the Gene Regulation and Cell Proliferation program of the CSHL Cancer Center. Since , he has served as director of research of CSHL. The second edition of Live Cell Imaging: A Laboratory Manual expands upon and extends the collection of established and evolving methods for studying dynamic changes in living cells and organisms presented in the well-known first edition. There are 16 new chapters and the 21 updated chapters in this new edition. It would also be ideal for students wishing to learn more about the important functional information that can be gained from imaging living cells. The Quarterly Review of Biology Live Cell Imaging: A Laboratory Manual, edited by Goldman and Spector, is an extremely useful addition to their previous book Cells: A Laboratory Manual.
